Bruno Guimaraes is confident that "unbelievable" Arsenal will continue to keep pushing after they ensured they will sit top of the Premier League for the international break.
Guimaraes lauds Arsenal's 'unbelievable' Premier League start
Arsenal earned their fifth straight Premier League win to pull clear at the top of the table for the upcoming international break.
Arsenal earned a 1-0 win over Hull City on Saturday – thanks to Martin Odegaard's goal – to pull six points clear of challengers Manchester City, who failed to close that gap after losing to Nottingham Forest.
The Gunners have 27 points from their opening 10 Premier League games this season (W9 L1); only Chelsea in 2005-06, City in 2011-12 and 2017-18 and Liverpool in 2019-20 have had more to begin a campaign in the competition (all 28).
They have won each of their last five matches in the Premier League, each coming since the extended international hiatus in September and October.
Prior to that break, Arsenal had suffered a disappointing 3-0 loss to Brighton, but Guimaraes noted how important it was for them to go into this one on a more positive note.
"We had a tough game; they [Hull] made it feel so difficult for us, but it's impressive numbers," said Guimaraes.
"I'm happy for myself, for the team. We'll keep going. We've been unbelievable.
"The message for us was clear in the dressing room. The last time we had a break, we lost to Brighton in one of the worst games of our season.
"The message here was to leave in a good way and go to our internationals happy."
Arsenal have kept a clean sheet in seven of their opening 10 Premier League games this season; only Birmingham City in 2003-04, Chelsea in 2004-05 and Manchester United in 2017-18 have had more at this stage (eight).
They are also on a 10-game winning streak at home in all competitions, only enjoying a longer run under Mikel Arteta in November 2022 (12).
Guimaraes was key to helping Arsenal past Hull, having the most touches (111), successful passes (86/95) and winning the most tackles (2/3).
"He's much better. He had a massive impact; he's hitting serious levels now, but we can still take him to another level," Arteta said of Guimaraes.
"That's my conviction; I told him that in the dressing room. He owned a lot of moments in the game, but there is still much more to come."
