The international break arrives with several managers under pressure following a difficult start to the Premier League season.
Among the managers under scrutiny are Roberto De Zerbi, Michael Carrick, Álvaro Arbeloa, Pierre Sage, Frank Lampard and Oliver Glasner, all facing varying levels of pressure following their teams' starts to the campaign.
De Zerbi and Carrick Face Mounting Pressure
Roberto De Zerbi's situation stands out because of Tottenham's poor start. After making a major investment to rebuild the squad during the summer transfer window, Spurs sit at the bottom of the table and remain winless after five matches.
The recent 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa increased the pressure on the Italian. Tottenham found themselves three goals down before responding in the closing minutes, but they were unable to complete the comeback.
Another manager facing pressure is Michael Carrick. Manchester United have recorded just one Premier League victory and were also eliminated from the Carabao Cup by Brighton. Draws against Everton and Fulham, along with other disappointing results, have complicated the manager's start to the season.
Arbeloa, Sage and Lampard Also Search for Answers
Álvaro Arbeloa has also struggled to find consistency with Fulham. The Spaniard strengthened his squad with Gonzalo Garcia, Cesar Palacios and Manuel Angel, players he knew from his time at Real Madrid Castilla, but early results increased the pressure. Recent draws against Liverpool and Manchester United, however, have provided some breathing room.
At Crystal Palace, Pierre Sage has endured an inconsistent start, combining Premier League defeats with better performances in other competitions.
Frank Lampard, meanwhile, earned some relief after guiding Coventry City to their first victory of the season against Nottingham Forest, although his team had opened the campaign with four defeats and failed to score a goal during that stretch.
At Nottingham Forest, Oliver Glasner is also facing questions following a run of inconsistent results, including a home defeat to Coventry City.
