The 2018 Ballon d’Or winner has signed with AC Milan until 2026 (with an option until 2027): Luka Modrić arrives in Italian football to write a new chapter in his legendary career.
From Madrid legend… to a new challenge in Milan
Croatian midfielder Luka Modrić, born on September 9, 1985 in Zadar, has officially become a new AC Milan player after leaving Real Madrid following 13 seasons. He’s signed a contract until June 2026, with an option to extend for one more year.
A golden career
- Debuted for Dinamo Zagreb at just 16 years old.
- Loan spells at Zrinjski Mostar and NK Inter Zaprešić.
- Returned to Dinamo (128 matches, 32 goals), winning 3 league titles, 2 Croatian Cups, and 1 Supercup.
- Played for Tottenham Hotspur from 2008 to 2012 (159 games, 17 goals).

Milan, a new opportunity
Modrić will wear the number 14 jersey at Milan. During his unveiling, he was seen alongside Santiago Giménez and said:
"I’m very happy to be here to start a new chapter in my life… Big challenges await me.”

Massimiliano Allegri did not hold back in his praise:
“He’s an extraordinary and important player—he needs no introduction.”
The Italian coach’s return to the Rossoneri bench signals a renewed ambition for European glory, now with Modrić’s leadership and experience in the midfield.
