Tanzania and Côte d’Ivoire will determine their future in the WAFCON 2026 when they meet this Tuesday at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca in the final round of Group B.

A clash that will decide Group B

Tanzania enter the final round with three points after experiencing two very different matches. The Twiga Stars stunned South Africa with a 2-1 victory in their opening game but then suffered a defeat by the same scoreline against Burkina Faso.

A victory over Côte d’Ivoire will guarantee their place in the next round. Tanzania could also finish top of Group B if they claim all three points and Burkina Faso fail to defeat South Africa in the other match.

Tanzania aim to rewrite history

This will be the sixth time Tanzania have faced a West African team in the competition, having lost their previous five matches against opponents from the region.

Tanzania have also never won their final group-stage match in their previous appearances. They suffered a 3-0 defeat against Nigeria in 2010 and lost 4-1 to Ghana in the most recent edition.

The team have scored in their last four WAFCON matches, their longest scoring streak in the tournament’s history. Aisha Mnunka scored against Burkina Faso, while goalkeeper Najiati Abass Idrissa has recorded 13 saves across her two appearances.

Côte d’Ivoire control their own destiny

The Elephants began their campaign with a victory over Burkina Faso before drawing 2-2 against South Africa.

With four points, a draw will be enough to secure their place in the quarterfinals. By avoiding defeat, Côte d’Ivoire would also complete a WAFCON group stage without losing a single match for the first time.
