PSG have become 'specialists in overcoming negative situations' – Luis Enrique
Paris Saint-Germain overturned an early deficit against English opposition for the second time this season, much to Luis Enrique's delight.
Luis Enrique feels Paris Saint-Germain have become "specialists in overcoming negative situations" following their comeback victory over Aston Villa on Wednesday.
PSG drew first blood in the opening leg of the quarter-final tie, coming from behind to prevail 3-1 at the Parc des Princes.
The hosts controlled large periods of the opening half an hour, but they found themselves a goal down when Morgan Rogers rounded off a neat Villa move.
However, they were soon back on level terms through Desire Doue, while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Nuno Mendes netted after the break to put the Ligue 1 leaders well in command of the tie.
It is not the first time PSG have overturned a deficit against an English side in this season's competition, notably recovering from 2-0 down to defeat Manchester City 4-2 during the league phase.
And Luis Enrique believes that result gave his team the belief to stand up to adversity once more against Villa.
"We played a very complete game throughout the leg," he told Canal+. "We were superior and we dominated.
"Football is the way it is. Aston Villa took the lead, it was an unfair scoreline. We continued to persist, and we were exceptional in finishing the three goals.
"The team transmits positive energy. We have become specialists in overcoming negative situations.
"That was the case against Manchester City, and it made us stronger, it gave us confidence.
"The best way to keep the advantage is to attack and win the game. We will continue to attack."
Villa are the third English team PSG have beaten overall in the Champions League this season. They recovered from a 1-0 first-leg defeat to eliminate Liverpool on penalties in the last 16.
Doue scored arguably the pick of the goals, cutting inside from the left before curling past Emiliano Martinez via the underside of the crossbar.
The 19-year-old has now scored on each of his last four appearances in all competitions, while he has 13 direct goal involvements in 12 games (eight goals, five assists).
And he urged his team-mates to adopt the same mentality heading into next week's second leg at Villa Park.
"We kept the state of mind that we put into each match, with intensity from start to finish, by sticking to the gameplan," he said.
"My first intention was to cross, then I saw that there weren't many options, so I chose the shot and it went in. I'm having a lot of fun here.
"We know that there is a second half. We will approach the return leg with the same seriousness, and we will go there to win."
