Bayern comes from behind to stretch its lead
Bayern Munich moved 11 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table after coming from a goal down to beat Stuttgart 3-1 on Saturday (AEDT).
Vincent Kompany's side was trailing by a goal after Angelo Stiller had fired the hosts ahead with a sumptuous drive into the top corner against his former side.
But just before the half-time break, Michael Olise found the ball in space and slotted home coolly for his eighth goal of his debut season in Germany's top flight, equalising things at 1-1.
Olise's goal provided just the impetus Bayern was lacking, and it took a firmer grip on matters after the break, Leon Goretzka pouncing on a defensive error to put the visitors ahead in the 64th minute.
Stuttgart pushed for an equaliser as the game moved into its latter stages, and that left space for Bayern to exploit, which it duly did when Kingsley Coman sealed the result in the 90th minute, rounding the keeper before slotting home, sparking wild celebrations from his side on and off the field.
Kompany himself charged on to the pitch to pile on to his players, which clearly feel this result could be a key one in terms of wresting back the title it lost to Bayr Leverkusen last season.
Leverkusen is in action against Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday (AEDT) before squaring off with Bayern in the UEFA Champions League next week.
