Key players return for Dortmund's trip to Wolves
Julian Brandt and Waldemar Anton will return for Borussia Dortmund's clash against Wolfsburg, head coach Nuri Sahin has confirmed.
The Black and Yellow is aiming to end 2024 on a high by ending a four-game winless streak across all competitions, while it is yet to record a Bundesliga victory on the road this season.
Dortmund's tricky patch has left it eighth on the Bundesliga table, five points adrift of the top four, and 11 behind leader Bayern Munich.
However, Sahin will be able to call upon the services of Brandt and Anton for the visit to Wolfsburg, while Karim Adeyemi also returned from injury in last weekend's draw with Hoffenheim.
With key players back at his disposal, the Dortmund boss expects his side's fortunes to improve.
"Brandt and Anton are back. Julian Ryerson is currently rebuilding, so we'll wait and see how he reacts to the strain. Then we'll decide," Sahin said.
"It was good for Karim that he has 45 minutes from the Hoffenheim game in his legs. He trained well and is definitely an option for the game in Wolfsburg.
"The game is very important for the table. The fact is that we have 22 points and the three points would do us a lot of good. Of course, it's also about being able to enjoy the days afterwards, but we have to win this game.
"You saw time and again in the first half of the season where things can go. But we also had a lot of setbacks. However, I expect me and my team to be more stable and consistent. We have to achieve that as quickly as possible."
