Millwall's misery compounded by Cardiff comeback
Millwall's poor run of form continued at home in the EFL Championship as it blew a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Cardiff City in stoppage-time, a result that moved the Bluebirds up a spot to 19th on the table.
The Lions came into the match in freefall, sliding down to 17th position having managed one win in their past 12 games since former coach Neil Harris was sacked last November.
But current coach Alex Neil would have been delighted with what he saw for the early portion of the game.
Millwall went ahead in the second minute when Calum Scalon blasted home, and Casper De Norre had The Den rocking when he scored after some excellent trickery by Ra'ess Bangura-Williams in the box opened up the opportunity for him.
But on the stroke of half-time, Chris Willock fired in a fine curling strike from the edge of the box to spark hope for the visitors, and surface familiar anxiety for the visitors.
Millwall had further opportunities to put the game to rest but failed to test Jak Alnwick in the Cardiff goal sufficiently, and as time ticked away, nerves began to fray.
Cardiff sensed an opportunity and pushed harder towards the latter stages of the match, testing Lions keeper Lukas Jensen and going close a couple of times.
Under that mounting pressure, Millwall eventually cracked right at the death.
In the seventh minute of added time, Cardiff calmly worked the ball into the area as Millwall's defence found itself at sixes and sevens, and Yousef Salech was on hand to swipe the ball home, rescuing a valuable point for his side while condemning the hosts to yet another match without a win.
