Thomas-Asante stunner keeps Coventry on song
Coventry City continues to impress in the EFL Championship under Frank Lampard as Brandon Thomas-Asante grabbed a spectacular goal and an assist to earn the Sky Blues a 2-1 win over Swansea City.
Ellis Simms's hooked finish gave Coventry an early lead as Swansea struggled to adapt to life after Matt Grimes, its former captain, who signed for the Sky Blues on Friday.
Thomas-Asante's moment of brilliance doubled the lead before half-time, the striker punishing an error in midfield with a glorious first-time shot from just inside the Swans' half which dipped and swerved under the crossbar to beat a back-pedalling Oliver Dovin in the Swans net.
Coventry is now within touching distance of the promotion play-offs after earning a fourth successive league win, while the pressure continues to pile on Swansea boss Luke Williams.
The Swans have now taken just one point from their six Championship games in 2025, seeing them slide down to 17th and just seven points above the relegation zone.
