Norwich hammers Swansea to close in on top six
Norwich City reignited its EFL Championship play-off chase as it thumped Swansea City 5-1 at Carrow Road.
The Canaries entered the game on a three-match losing streak, but looked anything but short on confidence as they dismantled their hapless visitors.
Josh Sargent got the home side up and running with the opening goal a minute before half-time, having been found just inside the box by Emiliano Marcondes.
Swansea did get level through Liam Cullen in the 62nd minute, but that parity lasted just a minute as Sargent put Norwich back ahead almost immediately.
The hosts then went goal crazy in the final 15 minutes with Lewis Dobbin, Ante Crnac and Marcondes all getting in on the act.
The victory lifts Norwich to ninth on the table, three points behind sixth-placed Blackburn Rovers, while Swansea is 17th.
Stoke City and Oxford United played out a goalless draw at bet365 Stadium in a match containing little quality in the final third.
The visitors came closest to breaking the deadlock in the second half, with Ole Romeny hitting the post after picking the pocket of Viktor Johansson, who had tried to shepherd the ball out of play.
The result leaves Oxford 13th in the Championship, nine points above the relegation zone, while it also extends its unbeaten run to eight league matches.
For Stoke, it is now six games without a win in all competitions, leaving it 19th and two points above the drop zone.
