Perfect Palmeiras sails into Copa Lib last 16
Palmeiras maintained its status as the only perfect team in the Copa Libertadores group stages, beating Bolivar 2-0 in Group G to rubber stamp its place in the Round of 16.
Both goals were scored inside the first 12 minutes, Murilo Cerqueira netting the first in the sixth minute with a superb header before Facundo Torres doubled the lead just six minutes later with a tap-in.
Bolivar thought it had pulled a goal back in the 75th minute when Bruno Savio nodded a free-kick delivery back across goal for fellow substitute Dorny Romero to score, but Savio was ruled offside after a video assistant referee check.
Palmeiras has five wins from five to top the group and guarantee itsprogress, while for Bolivar this was a fourth loss from five in a disappointing campaign.
