Torres hat-trick cancels out Vaca stunners
A hat-trick from Jonathan Torres overshadowed a stunning double from Ramiro Vaca as Cerro Porteno got its Copa Libertadores group campaign off to a great start with a 4-2 home win in Group G.
Vaca had give Bolivar a 17th-minute lead with a sensational overhead finish as the hosts failed to clear a set-piece adequately, but Torres netted either side of half-time to put his side ahead.
Just after the hour mark, he completed his treble before Jorge Morel made sure of the victory with a fourth for Cerro Porteno 18 minutes from time.
That was enough time for Vaca to score his second wondergoal of the night as he pumped a free-kick from just outside the box into the back of the net as the entire Porteno defence stood in awe like statues.
But it was too late to affect the result, which made Cerro Porteno the early group leader as the competition kicked off in style.
