Valladolid wins at Alaves as officials hurt hosts
Alaves was left fuming after a series of controversial decisions allowed Real Valladolid to come from behind with two penalties and a goal in open play to win 3-2 on the road.
It was the first away win for the visitors, who looked shaky at best when Toni Martinez blasted the hosts ahead in the sixth minute after easily stealing possession on the edge of the box before firing into the bottom left corner.
But barely 10 minutes later, Alaves goalkeeper Antonio Sivera gifted Valladolid a penalty, which former Alaves man Mamadou Syllla put away with power to level the scores.
It remained 1-1 for some time, with neither side able to make the most of the opportunities they created, but in the 72nd minute, VAR created one for the visitors, harshly calling a handball against Jon Guridi when he'd had his back to the ball as it was headed on to his upper arm from a corner.
Selim Amallah coolly rolled the ball past Sivera to put the visitors in front, and just four minutes later, it was 3-1 after a superb counter-attack was finished by Anuar Tuhami.
But with nine minutes of added time, Alaves still felt it had time to level matters, and when Kike Garcia chested down a high ball before volleying home an unstoppable strike, the crowd was up and about again.
But time ran out and Kike Garcia was shown two yellows in a matter of seconds for his complaints to the referee to leave the hosts without a man and without any points as they went home empty handed but full of rage.
