Cunha on target as Wolves devour Foxes
Wolverhampton Wanderers made a dream start to life under Vitor Pereira, who oversaw a 3-0 victory over Leicester City in his first Premier League game in charge.
The visitors hit the ground running under Pereira, who replaced Gary O'Neil earlier this week, while also notching their first ever top-flight triumph at King Power Stadium.
Goals from Goncalo Guedes and Rodrigo Gomes put Wolves in charge of the Midlands derby between two of the division's bottom four sides.
Matheus Cunha was also on target before the break to put the contest beyond the Foxes, who suffered their first home defeat under Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Wolves' victory saw them leapfrog Ipswich Town to 18th place and move within two points of the Foxes, who remain in 17th.
Pereira is confident Wolves will stay in the Premier League.
"I asked them to be proud at the end of the game of our work, and to make the supporters proud of our work," he said.
"In three days, to organise the team and give them confidence to play like that is hard. I believe that this team will be more comfortable with the ball, have more possession and create more situations to score.
"I believe that we will stay in the Premier League, and we will play at a better level than we saw today. Today, I am happy as the team showed spirit and the spirit that Wolves supporters want to see."
Van Nistelrooy, meanwhile, rued the individual mistakes by Leicester.
"It's obviously very disappointing," the Dutchman said.
"You look at how the goals were given away, probably more, because of the individual mistakes, and it happened too much today.
"It's a disappointing one. We couldn't give the crowd a good afternoon of football, which we were able to in the previous two games and lifted the place," he added.
"That's two setbacks now and big challenges ahead."
Leicester's next match is an away trip to league leader Liverpool.
