Nine-man Palace hold out for victory over Brighton
Daniel Munoz scored the winner in the M23 derby as nine-man Crystal Palace held on to edge out 10-man Brighton and Hove Albion in a wild contest at Selhurst Park.
The Colombian's fourth Premier League goal of the season got the Eagles back to winning ways after their 1-1 draw with bottom side Southampton in midweek.
Palace broke through after just three minutes as Eberechi Eze found Jean-Philippe Mateta, who took the ball in his stride before beating Bart Verbruggen in emphatic fashion.
Brighton levelled in the 31st minute when Danny Welbeck rounded off a fine move by volleying home Yankuba Minteh's cross from close range.
Munoz regained the hosts' advantage within 10 minutes of the restart, drilling past Verbruggen after a swift counter by the hosts.
The Eagles had to navigate 12 additional minutes after Eddie Nketiah and Marc Guehi were dismissed, but did so to record a sixth win in seven matches in all competitions.
Oliver Glasner's side moved up a place to 11th and within four points of eighth-placed Brighton, which had Jan Paul van Hecke sent off in stoppage-time and suffered only a second defeat in nine away games.
