Lemina returns to Galatasaray in permanent transfer from Wolves
Mario Lemina has returned to Galatasaray five years after his loan spell with the club, joining on a permanent deal from Wolves.
Mario Lemina has completed a return to Galatasaray from Wolves in a reported £2million deal on a one-and-a-half-year contract.
Lemina, who made 28 appearances for Galatasaray during a loan spell in 2019-20, has made the move back to the Turkish Super Lig side, with the option to extend that deal for an extra year.
The 31-year-old has not featured for Wolves since their 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League back in January after a fall-out with manager Vitor Pereira.
Lemina lost the Wolves captaincy in December after clashing with Jarrod Bowen following the 2-1 defeat to West Ham, before Pereira replaced Gary O'Neil as head coach.
Pereira said last month that the midfielder would not play until the transfer window had shut, with Lemina having initially refused to make himself available for selection.
On Wednesday, Galatasaray confirmed they had entered external negotiations with both Lemina and Wolves before announcing the deal later in the day.
Lemina featured 77 times across all competitions for Wolves, playing more times for the Premier League side than any other of the seven sides he has turned out for.
The Turkish winter transfer window remains open until February 11, with Lemina becoming Galatasaray's third signing at the halfway stage of the season.
Okan Buruk's side welcomed AC Milan striker Alvaro Morata on loan until the end of the 2024-25 campaign, as well as Eyupspor attacker Ahmed Kutucu on a permanent deal.
"Everyone knows I love this club. I'm very happy to be back at this great club," Lemina said. "This is an ambitious club that wants to win in all areas, like the Champions League and the Europa League. It always wants to win the title. I'm really happy to be back. When I got the first offer I was very excited.
"I wanted to play for this crest and this team. It's a pleasure to be back. Our fans know me. I will give everything for the team and the fans. I hope we can achieve all the success we can together in this great club."
