Salah revels in Liverpool's 'special' win over Man City
Mohamed Salah played a starring role as Premier League leaders Liverpool surged 11 points clear at the top by beating Manchester City.
Mohamed Salah labelled Liverpool's 2-0 win over Manchester City as "special" as Arne Slot's team continued their Premier League title charge.
Salah played a starring role as City claimed a statement win at the Etihad Stadium, where they had not triumphed in the top flight since November 2015.
The Egypt international scored in the 14th minute before teeing up Dominik Szoboszlai before half-time.
Liverpool are now 11 points clear of Arsenal, who lost to West Ham on Saturday.
"It's incredible, it's a very hard place to come here. A tough team, with an incredible manager," Salah told Sky Sports.
"This is special, especially in a title race. They have won four [titles] in a row, they're an incredible team.
"Hopefully we now just keep calm, because sometimes the pressure has got to us, play our game and try to win each game."
Salah has contributed to 41 goals in the Premier League this season (25 goals, 16 assists).
He is the first player in the history of the competition to contribute to 40+ goals in two different seasons, having also done so in 2017-18 (42).
Salah, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has now both scored and assisted a goal in 49 separate league matches in his career in Europe's big-five leagues. Since Opta have this data available (from 2006-07), only Lionel Messi (102) and Cristiano Ronaldo (65) have done so more in those divisions.
Asked if he was playing the best football of his career, the 32-year-old said: "I don't know, it's an opinion – maybe people prefer other seasons.
"I prefer right now, trying to win the league.
"We need another title for sure. We'll give it our best shot and we'll see."
Liverpool face Newcastle United at Anfield on Wednesday, with 11 games remaining for Slot's side.
"We have to keep going, it's going to be tough at home against Newcastle, and then 11 more games to go," Szoboszlai said.
"It's not the end, we have to keep calm, keep going and take it game by game."
