In her first match since claiming the trophy at Roland-Garros – her first grand slam title – Andreeva capitulated to a 6-3 6-4 defeat.
The world number five ceded control to Alexandrova when she lost three service games on the bounce.
Alexandrova's first break came towards the end of the first set, as she went 5-3 up.
The world number 19 kept up the momentum at the start of the second, twice getting the better of Andreeva's serve, and though the teenager broke back to pull herself into contention, Alexandrova held firm to serve out the victory to love.
While Andreeva must lick her wounds, there was no surprise at the Eastbourne Open, as second seed Madison Keys – who has slipped down to number 27 in the WTA rankings – dispatched Jessica Bouzas Maneiro 6-0 6-1.
