Musiala expected to miss Bayern's clash with Inter
Vincent Kompany expects Jamal Musiala to miss Bayern Munich's UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg against Inter Milan because of a hamstring injury.
The Bundesliga leader extended its advantage at the summit to nine points after coming from behind to beat 10-man Augsburg 3-1, before second-placed Bayer Leverkusen responded with a narrow 1-0 win at Heidenheim to reduce the gap to six points.
Bayern's victory was overshadowed by injury to Musiala, who had brought Bayern back on level terms at WWK Arena.
The attacking midfielder went down in the 54th minute and signalled to be replaced, adding to an injury list that already includes the likes of Manuel Neuer, Alphonso Davies and Dayot Upamecano.
While disappointed by Musiala's potential unavailability to face Inter at Allianz Arena this week, Kompany has urged his players to respond to the setback in a positive manner.
"We have played without Jamal a few times already this season," the head coach said.
"I'm no doctor and don't want to look too far ahead, but unfortunately, it looks like he will miss it [Inter match]. We'll know more after checks today or tomorrow.
"But in these moments, I always have the feeling that we should not stop. These moments happen.
"We worked our way into this situation, and in the six remaining league games and in the Champions League, we want to use our chances and win something, be successful.
"So, we should not take too much from the sometimes sad stories, and get strength from the issues we have solved this season."
Kompany also praised his side's character after overturning its early deficit, with Harry Kane and Leroy Sane also on target in the second half.
"If you take away the goal that we conceded, in the first and second half, we were solid defensively," Kompany said.
"After going 1-0 down and how the team worked its way back into the game was a good sign."
