Flick urges Barcelona to keep improving despite reclaiming top spot
Barcelona returned to the top of LaLiga and extended their unbeaten start to 2025, but Hansi Flick is still looking for improvements.
Despite Barcelona moving back to the LaLiga summit with a 2-0 victory over Las Palmas on Saturday, Hansi Flick remained slightly critical of the team's performance.
Barca struggled to produce many good goal-scoring opportunities before Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres came off the bench to score second-half goals.
The Blaugrana are now unbeaten in 10 away matches in all competitions (W7 D3). It is the first time they have gone 10 games without losing on the road since a run of 15 between January and September 2022 (W12 D3).
They have also won each of their last five LaLiga matches, with this victory moving them back above Atletico Madrid, who sit one point behind in second.
Real Madrid are three points behind Barcelona in third but could move level on points with them if they beat Girona on Sunday. Barcelona remain in the driving seat for now though, having a superior goal difference to Carlo Ancelotti's side.
"I'm not entirely happy with the game, but I'm happy with the three points," Flick told a press conference on Saturday.
"I was worried in the first half, but we corrected some issues we had during the break and the players understood what they needed to improve. They saw how they could do better in the second half.
"It was about everyone being involved in the team's work. Keeping another clean sheet was very important. We lost a lot of balls in the first half. We need and can improve that.
"The players are also not happy with the performance, but very happy with the three points. We always said we want to improve, be better, a better team.
"But overall, I can say I'm happy ... Happy because we are still in the lead and that is a good situation we are in. We know that we can improve and that we have to keep improving going forward."
