Grealish shines as Everton tames Wolves
Jack Grealish registered another two assists as Everton held on to secure a 3-2 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux in the Premier League.
Everton has clinched back-to-back league wins after this entertaining triumph, and boss David Moyes quipped that Grealish was even better than he'd thought he was after his star turn.
Having registered two assists against Brighton and Hove Albion in Everton's first competitive game at Hill Dickinson Stadium last week, Grealish provided another creative masterclass at Molineux.
Grealish teed up Beto for Everton's opener after just seven minutes as he headed the ball across the box towards the striker, who made no mistake with his finish.
Hwang Hee-chan got Wolves level, but Everton went into half-time 2-1 up thanks to Iliman Ndiaye's close-range finish, after Beto did well to dummy a low cross from Keirnan Dewsbury-Hall.
Grealish then teed up Dewsbury-Hall for a thunderous strike 10 minutes into the second half, which flew past Jose Sa and touched the crossbar on its way in.
After some attacking changes from Wolves boss Vitor Pereira, substitute Rodrigo Gomes got one back to cap a spell of pressure, though he later missed a good chance to equalise in stoppage-time.
Wolves are still yet to earn a point in the Premier League this season, while Everton sits fifth on the table with six points from three matches.
Speaking after the game, Moyes highlighted Grealish's contributions, saying: "It's nothing to do with me, let me tell you, it's all to do with Jack and his own mentality to be better.
"There's a wee bit to prove, I'm sure, I think we all have. I think in life, you've always got something you have to strive to do. And I think Jack wants to show that he's a good player. I think he's showing it at the moment.
"I think some of his football has been really good. The biggest compliment I could probably give him is he's better than I thought he was. You know, he's so good.
"I think what Jack gives us is something just on the edge, which, hopefully, it's on the edge of creativeness and maybe scoring goals."
Wolves were without the services of striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, with the striker missing out because of a knock, although this fuelled more rumours of his potential departure after the club reportedly rejected two bids from Newcastle United for the Norwegian earlier this week.
Wolves boss Vitor Pereira was questioned whether he expects the striker to remain at the club after the transfer window closes. In response, he said: "Of course, of course.
"But Jorgen, as I told you before, he got a kick in the Achilles tendon in the game against Bournemouth.
"He tried to help us in the last game, but the level of the inflammation increased and meant that we did an MRI, and he has something there, not serious, but with a big risk if he plays."
