Pogba says new Manchester United must prove itself
Paul Pogba believes Manchester United is back where it belongs after having qualified for next season's UEFA Chamoions League, but he feels the players must now prove themselves in the top tier competition.
Manager Michael Carrick turned United's fortunes around after he replaced Ruben Amorim in January.
Carrick won 12 of his 17 Premier League games in charge, losing only twice, and recorded a 70.6 per cent win ratio.
That form saw United finish third in the Premier League and qualify for the UEFA Champions League after several years away from Europe's flagship club competition, much to the delight of former player Pogba.
However, the Frenchman says United must now prove itself all over again.
"It was good for [Carrick], very good for him and the players. They felt another energy, and that was good for them; that's what they needed," Pogba said.
"They're back in the [UEFA] Champions League next season, and now they're going to have to prove themselves, but for sure it was a good season for them to get back to where Manchester United belong."
Pogba, who left United to join Juventus in 2022 before moving to Monaco, managed just six appearances for the Ligue 1 side in all competitions across 2025-2026, starting only one game and featuring for 115 minutes in total.
