Chelsea's Veiga seals loan switch to Juventus
Renato Veiga has completed a loan move to Serie A giant Juventus for the rest of the season after struggling for game time at Chelsea.
Veiga, who arrived at Stamford Bridge from FC Basel last July in a reported €14 million deal, made just 18 appearances across all competitions under Enzo Maresca.
The 21 year-old featured predominantly in the Europa Conference League, starting all six of Chelsea's games in the tournament, all of which they have won so far.
But for Veiga, it is a chance to shine at the Allianz Stadium under Thiago Motta, with Juventus struggling with injuries, particularly in defence throughout the entirety of the season.
Motta is already without centre-back Gelson Bremer and left-back Juan Cabal with long-term issues, while they also terminated the contract of club captain and defender Danilo earlier on Monday.
It marks the third signing Juventus have made this month, with full-back Alberto Costa joining permanently from Vitoria Guimaraes, while Randal Kolo Muani also arrived in Turin on a loan deal until the end of 2024-25 from Paris Saint-Germain.
Juventus is next in action on Thursday in the Champions League, taking on Benfica in the final game of the league phase, having already qualified for the play-off round.
