Djere clinched the two hour semi-final with his fourth match point and remains undefeated against the Argentinean, but he will have to seal with another one when he faces No.3 seed Baez for the clay-court title on Monday (AEDT).
“I’m happy that I could win this match. It was really tough,” Djere said.
“The conditions were different than the previous days, during the day. I adapted quite well at the beginning and then my level slightly dropped in the second set. I managed to play a good third set.”
Baez was put through a see-saw sem-final against Camilo Ugu Carabelli. After sailing through the first set 6-1, Ugo Carabelli took a 3-0 lead in the second, eventually closing it out 6-3.
But Baez found his feet again in the decider, taking it 6-2 to take his place in the final.
