(VIDEO) Jordan Love Unable to Leave the Field: What Happened to the Quarterback?
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love had to be assisted off the field after suffering what appeared to be a lower leg injury with just six seconds remaining in their 34-29 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, a game played in São Paulo, Brazil.
Love attempted a pass as the clock was winding down when he was hit by two Eagles defenders, causing him to fall to the ground. He remained on the field, showing his pain as he was attended to by team medical staff, and ultimately could not return to the game.
Malik Willis, who joined the Packers in August, replaced Love and executed the final two plays, which ended in an incomplete pass and a quarterback sack.
Love completed 17 of 34 passes for 260 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in the defeat.
Packers coach Matt LaFleur, when asked about the severity of Love's injury after the game, said, “I don’t know.”
Wide receiver Christian Watson tried to sound optimistic, saying, “Whatever it is, I know he’s going to get through it. We’re going to get through it.”
Love signed a four-year, $220 million contract with the Packers in July, keeping him with the team through the 2028 season. The contract features a record $75 million signing bonus and $155 million in new guaranteed money, as reported by ESPN.
