Griezmann Pushes to Bring the NFL to the Metropolitano
Antoine Griezmann, Atlético Madrid’s star player, said he’s going to give “another little push” to bring the NFL to Madrid's Metropolitano Stadium, following its debut next year at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The French player was in London this Sunday, attending the game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Chicago Bears at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where he made his case for Madrid to host a second NFL game, this time at the Metropolitano.
"I’ve tried, talked with the club, with the NFL… For me, our stadium is the most beautiful one out there, and with everything around it—the parking, everything—they’re taking it seriously. We’ll give it another nudge to bring it to the Metropolitano,” Griezmann told Spanish media in London.
In 2025, the NFL is set to hold a game at the Santiago Bernabéu, with the exact date somewhere between September and October. There’s already talk of also playing in Barcelona and at the Metropolitano, but that wouldn’t happen until 2026 at the earliest.
