How Much Money Will be Wagered on Super Bowl LIX Between The Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles? Projections are Already In
Super Bowl LIX promises to be a spectacular event, not only due to the showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, but also because of the massive amount of money that will be bet. With a historic record projected at $1.39 billion in legal wagers, the Super Bowl will become the sporting event that generates the most money in the legal betting market in the United States.
The American Gaming Association (AGA) highlighted the exponential growth of legal sports betting across the country, with 38 states, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico already offering these options to fans. Bill Miller, president of the AGA, emphasized the positive impact of this market, which not only protects consumers but also contributes to the local economy through taxes generated from these wagers. The projection for Super Bowl LIX reflects the growing interest of fans to participate legally in such bets.
This estimated $1.39 billion represents a significant increase from the $1.25 billion wagered last year for Super Bowl LVIII. However, unlike previous years, the AGA has chosen to focus exclusively on legal wagers, excluding those made on unauthorized sites or informal bets among friends. This highlights the expansion of the legal sports betting industry in the country.
Despite the recent legalization of sports betting in North Carolina, the market continues to grow, and Missouri, home of the Chiefs, will join the list of states with legal betting in 2025. However, due to implementation times, bets from this state are not expected to be a major source of income for this particular Super Bowl.
In addition to betting, the experience of Super Bowl LIX will also be an exclusive luxury for those who can afford it. VIP suites at the Caesars Superdome have reached astronomical prices, surpassing $3 million. With high-end services and the presence of celebrities like Taylor Swift, demand for these spaces is as high as the magnitude of the event. Undoubtedly, Super Bowl LIX has become not just a sporting event but also an economic spectacle.
