Patrick Mahomes, quarterback of the reigning Kansas City Chiefs, reached a new milestone by throwing his 238th career touchdown pass, setting a franchise record during a 19-17 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 13 of the 2024 NFL season.
Mahomes Surpasses a Legend
With this achievement, Mahomes surpassed Len Dawson, a Hall of Famer who recorded 237 touchdown passes while leading the Chiefs from 1962 to 1975, including their triumph in Super Bowl IV.
In the Black Friday matchup, Mahomes threw for 306 yards despite being sacked five times. The win improved the Chiefs’ record to 11-1, solidifying their lead in the AFC West and the AFC Conference, ensuring their path to the playoffs.
Meanwhile, the Raiders remain at the bottom of the AFC West and the conference overall with a dismal 2-10 record.

In the first half, the Chiefs built a 10-3 lead thanks to a field goal and a touchdown pass from Mahomes to Justin Watson. The Raiders responded with a field goal before halftime.
The Chiefs extended their lead to 16-3 in the third quarter with two field goals by Matthew Wright, who stepped in due to injuries to backup kicker Spencer Shrader and star kicker Harrison Butker.
The Raiders fought back, narrowing the gap to 16-10 with a touchdown pass from Aidan O’Connell to Brock Bowers, then taking a 17-16 lead early in the fourth quarter with a pass to Tre Tucker. However, the Chiefs regained control with a late field goal, securing the 19-17 win.
