Kendrick Lamar to Perform at Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show
The NFL has announced that rapper Kendrick Lamar will headline the Super Bowl LIX halftime show, set to take place at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Sunday, February 9, 2025.
"Rap music remains the most impactful genre to date. I'll be there to remind the world why. They picked the right one," Kendrick Lamar said in a statement.
The Grammy and Emmy award-winning artist first gained recognition with his debut album good kid, m.A.A.d city in 2012. Since then, Lamar has amassed 17 Grammy awards and became the first non-classical musician to win a Pulitzer Prize for his 2017 album DAMN.
"Pioneering artists like Kendrick Lamar have redefined the very foundations of hip-hop, creating moments that resonate deeply across culture and music," said Seth Dudowsky, NFL's Head of Music.
Lamar’s latest album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, was released in May 2022, with one of its tracks spending three weeks at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year.
"Super Bowl halftime is a celebration of the music we love, and Apple is excited to bring this show to the world, starring the one and only Kendrick Lamar," said Oliver Schusser, VP of Apple Music.
In last year's Super Bowl LVIII, the halftime show was headlined by Usher.
