Patrick Mahomes Devastated After Injuring Teammate Rashee Rice
Patrick Mahomes, quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs and three-time NFL champion, expressed his concern after accidentally causing an injury to his teammate Rashee Rice during the game against the Chargers in Week 4 of the season. Mahomes stated that after the incident, his biggest worry was the health of the receiver, who left the field with what was initially feared to be a serious knee injury.
The collision occurred when Mahomes was intercepted by Kristian Fulton of the Chargers, and in an attempt to stop the play, he ended up colliding with Rice's knee. Although the initial diagnosis pointed to a possible tear of the anterior cruciate ligament, the Chiefs' medical team is still assessing the severity of the injury while waiting for the inflammation to decrease.
Rashee Rice, the team's leading receiver with 288 yards and two touchdowns in four weeks, has been placed on the injured list, which will keep him out of action for at least the next four games. His absence represents a significant blow to the Chiefs, who also have other key players, such as Hollywood Brown and running back Isiah Pacheco, dealing with physical issues.
Andy Reid, the Chiefs' coach, exercised caution regarding the situation and emphasized that the team will rely on the medical staff to determine Rice's recovery timeline. The Chiefs, who remain undefeated this season, will host the New Orleans Saints in Week 5.
