As the MLB postseason continues, Tropicana Field, home of the Tampa Bay Rays, was set to be a safe refuge for first responders and cleanup crews after long hours of work caused by Hurricane Milton. However, that will no longer be possible.

Milton showed no mercy to the facility, which usually hosts people to enjoy baseball games. The extensive damage went viral and was enough to prevent it from serving its intended purpose during the hurricane. As shown in the images, the roof was completely destroyed after tornadoes were unleashed and the storm made landfall as a Category 3 hurricane on Wednesday. At least four people have lost their lives, according to authorities.

Earlier this week, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced that Tropicana Field would be used as a base camp for 10,000 people working on debris cleanup and assisting first responders.

The Rays have reported that no one was injured following the destruction of the roof, though authorities have urged people to avoid visiting downtown St. Petersburg, according to a city spokesperson.
