Celebrations and watch-party gatherings in New York City turned chaotic after the New York Knicks fell 115-111 to the San Antonio Spurs in Game 3 of the NBA Finals, leading to the arrest of 21 people, according to police officials.

The game marked the Knicks' first Finals appearance in New York after winning the opening two games in San Antonio, generating tremendous excitement among fans across the city.

Security measures were heightened because U.S. President Donald Trump attended the game at Madison Square Garden. As a result, the team's traditional outdoor watch party was relocated from the arena to Bryant Park, where thousands of supporters gathered to follow the action.

Following the final buzzer, large crowds remained in the area, blocking traffic and pedestrian access around the park. Videos shared on social media appeared to show fights between fans and acts of vandalism involving public property, including damaged planters and bus signs.

New York police reported that 21 individuals were taken into custody. Thirteen face criminal charges including assault, property damage, and serious disorderly conduct, while eight others were arrested on lesser disorderly conduct violations.

Authorities also confirmed that five police officers sustained minor injuries while responding to the disturbances and restoring order.

Despite the unrest, officials expect fans to return to the vicinity of Madison Square Garden for Game 4, as New York continues to embrace the excitement of a Finals run the franchise had not experienced since 1999. The Knicks remain within reach of ending a championship drought that has fueled extraordinary enthusiasm throughout the city.
