That stance reflects how rare the chance is to land a two-time MVP still in his prime and how far the franchise is willing to go to salvage the back end of Stephen Curry’s championship window.​

Why the Warriors Would Risk It

The Warriors are hovering around the middle of the Western Conference and facing the reality that minor tweaks will not restore them to title favorite status. Their current core of Curry, Green and Jimmy Butler has struggled to dominate consistently, and rival executives increasingly view Golden State as a team searching for a transformational move rather than incremental help.​
