Warriors Reportedly Willing to Trade Franchise Star for Giannis Antetokounmpo
Reports suggest Golden State would consider trading Draymond Green if it brings Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Bay.
For a decade, Draymond Green has been treated as untouchable in San Francisco. Now multiple reports indicate there is one exception. The Warriors would be willing to include their emotional leader in a package for Giannis Antetokounmpo.â
NBA insider Jake Fischer has framed Antetokounmpo as the only player Golden State would move Green for, with Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski also seen as potential centerpieces in a mega offer.
That stance reflects how rare the chance is to land a two-time MVP still in his prime and how far the franchise is willing to go to salvage the back end of Stephen Curryâs championship window.â
Why the Warriors Would Risk It
The Warriors are hovering around the middle of the Western Conference and facing the reality that minor tweaks will not restore them to title favorite status. Their current core of Curry, Green and Jimmy Butler has struggled to dominate consistently, and rival executives increasingly view Golden State as a team searching for a transformational move rather than incremental help.â
Giannis represents exactly that kind of pivot. A Curry-Antetokounmpo pairing would instantly become one of the most feared star duos in the league, blending elite shooting with overwhelming size and athleticism.
Proposed frameworks in national reports envision Green heading to Milwaukee along with Kuminga, salary filler and a haul of future first round picks, giving the Bucks both win-now experience and long-term upside.â
Does Giannis Even Want To Be in San Francisco?
The other half of the equation is Antetokounmpo himself. Recent reporting has tied his preferences more strongly to markets like New York and Miami, with the Knicks in particular repeatedly mentioned as his favored destination outside Milwaukee. That complicates any Warriors dream scenario, since a team rarely empties its asset chest without confidence that a superstar will sign on for the long term.â
Even so, the mere fact that Golden Stateâs willingness to move Green for Giannis has leaked speaks volumes about the internal urgency. A franchise that once vowed to retire Green as a Warrior for life is at least entertaining the idea of cashing him in for one last superteam run.
Until Antetokounmpoâs future is settled, the prospect of a Curry-Giannis partnership will continue to hover over the league as the boldest swing left on the board.
