Red Bull Changes Course: Farewell to Horner, Welcome to the Mekies Era
With Laurent Mekies at the helm, Red Bull is changing its philosophy and bidding farewell to Christian Horner's combative style in the midst of the fight for the F1 title.
Change of cycle: Red Bull takes a step toward moderation
The Red Bull Racing team has left behind an era marked by intensity and confrontation. Christian Horner's departure as team principal has opened the door to a new management philosophy, led by Laurent Mekies, who has a much more conciliatory profile. The team is now opting for a more measured approach, in contrast to the combative style that characterized Horner.
First results with Mekies at the front
The transition has already begun to leave its mark on the track. Max Verstappen managed to win the Sprint race, while at the start of the Belgian Grand Prix he finished in fourth place.
For many, Horner functioned as a “piranha” in the paddock, while Mekies is seen as a more diplomatic manager.
Everything points to the team having decided to reinvent itself without losing competitiveness, seeking to build a more balanced identity in a Formula 1 that is evolving at great speed.
