Spearheaded by Justine Siegal, the first woman to coach in a Major League Baseball organization, and entrepreneur Keith Stein, the WPBL aims not only to provide an elite professional stage for female players, but also to transform the visibility of the sport globally.

Four Franchises and a Historic Venue

For its debut season, the league will feature four founding teams located in key strategic markets: the Boston Hunters, Los Angeles Queens, New York Heights, and San Francisco Firebells. All regular-season action will take place at a single venue, the iconic Robin Roberts Stadium in Springfield, Illinois, a location specially chosen to streamline tournament logistics and maximize media impact during this initial phase.

Fast-Paced Format and Game Rules

To engage new audiences, the WPBL is embracing a modern, dynamic competition style. Games will be played across seven innings, with the use of aluminum bats permitted to boost explosive gameplay. 

The schedule features a four-week regular season running Thursday through Sunday, followed by an All-Star Game and two weeks of playoffs to crown the league's inaugural champions.

Global Reach and International Impact

The inaugural draft highlighted the project's global scope, bringing together prospects and national team players from over 10 countries. Latin American talent stands out prominently, led by a strong contingent of Mexican players who earned roster spots following open tryouts in Washington.
