The Pharaohs travel to Juba looking for their first victory on the road to AFCON 2027, but they will have to do it without Mohamed Salah.
The AFCON 2027 Qualifiers continue with Egypt looking to bounce back after an unexpected start. The Pharaohs visit South Sudan at Juba National Stadium in the second matchday of Group B.
The team coached by Hossam Hassan began its qualifying campaign with a 0-0 draw against Angola in Cairo. Despite having several of their biggest stars available, the seven-time African champions could not find a goal and had to settle for one point.
Now they will have another opportunity to claim their first victory, although they will have to do it without their biggest star.
Egypt Will Be Without Mohamed Salah
Mohamed Salah will not be available to face South Sudan. The decision was made because of the artificial surface at Juba National Stadium and had already been agreed upon between the player and Hossam Hassan before the match against Angola.
The captain's absence will force Egypt to look for other attacking options in a match where securing three points will be the priority.
The Egyptian coach also made it clear before the trip that Salah's absence was unrelated to reports of a possible disagreement between the two after the forward was substituted during the draw against Angola.
Without their biggest star, the Pharaohs will have an opportunity to show the depth of a squad considered one of the favorites to secure one of the group's qualification spots.
