Neymar Breaks Silence on Santos’ Form and Controversy Over Paulista Match Ball
Neymar has asked Santos fans for patience following a difficult start in his return to Brazilian football. After going winless in his first three matches in the Campeonato Paulista, the Brazilian star remains optimistic about the team’s progress.
A Struggling Comeback, But Hope Remains
After Santos’ 2-1 loss to Corinthians on Wednesday, Neymar took to social media to send a positive message to Peixe supporters.
"It wasn’t the result we wanted, but we know the game we played… we are improving, getting stronger, taking risks, and looking for our best version," wrote the number 10.
Still recovering from a serious knee injury and muscle issues, Neymar has yet to score or assist in the three matches he has played since returning.
A Tough Start in the Campeonato Paulista
Since Neymar’s return, Santos has recorded:
- 1-1 draw vs. Botafogo-SP
- 0-0 draw vs. Novorizontino
- 2-1 loss vs. Corinthians (Paulista Derby)
In the last two games, Neymar started but was substituted in the second half.
Despite the disappointing results, the Brazilian superstar remains confident in the squad:
"I have faith in this team, and above all, we are SANTOS FC!!" he stated.
Neymar Criticizes the Official Match Ball
Besides acknowledging his lack of match fitness, Neymar surprised many with a complaint about the Campeonato Paulista’s official match ball, produced by Penalty.
"With all due respect to Penalty, the ball needs to improve… It’s really bad. They need to make it better," he said after the match at Neo Química Arena.
Currently, Santos sits third in Group B with a record of 2 wins, 3 draws, and 4 losses, making their path to the knockout stage more difficult.
