Andreas Christensen Provides Update on His Recovery: Set to Return Soon?
Barcelona's defender, Andreas Christensen, who recently underwent a "microsurgery" on his left Achilles tendon to address tendinopathy, is optimistic about returning to full fitness soon.
Having been sidelined for three months, Christensen described his procedure to Barcelona's media as so minor it could be considered a "cleanup."
"This shouldn't affect my return time. If anything, it might speed it up. I don't want to put pressure on myself, but I feel that we are on the right track to come back at one hundred percent," Christensen stated.
The Danish international has been unable to participate in Barcelona's strong start to the season, expressing his frustration: "I'm not enjoying being out, but I'm eager to face each day to get back with the team. Every day is one less."
Christensen is aware of the importance of returning fully fit to assist his teammates, a sentiment echoed by Barcelona's coach Hansi Flick. "The focus right now, as Flick also tells me, is that it's very important for me to come back at one hundred percent to be able to help the team," he added.
With many matches left in the season and opportunities for everyone in the central defense, where Pau Cubarsí and Íñigo Martínez are currently playing, Christensen is keen to rejoin the squad along with teammate Ronald Araujo, who is also nearing a return.
