Barcelona to The Final of The Spanish Super Cup!
FC Barcelona reached the final of the Spanish Super Cup after defeating Athletic Club 0-2 in a standout performance by Lamine Yamal, who not only scored the decisive goal but also delivered a memorable night for the Blaugrana side. Goals from Gavi and Yamal secured the spot in the final, while the news of the "reprieve" for Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor to be re-registered added extra motivation to the team.
From the start, Barcelona took control against an Athletic Club side suffering from the absence of Nico Williams and lacking depth in attack without Sancet. In the 17th minute, Gavi scored his first goal in over a year following a collective play, putting Barça ahead. Despite several attempts from the Bilbao team, including a chance from Iñaki Williams and a wayward shot from Jauregizar, the Blaugrana defense, supported by Szczesny, kept the lead.
The second half began similarly, with Barcelona dominating the play. Lamine Yamal, who had already been a standout in the first half, sealed the match with a stunning goal after a pass from Gavi, once again showing his talent and determination. With the semifinal nearly secured, Hansi Flick decided to substitute Yamal to rest him for the final, while Athletic tried to react with the introduction of Nico Williams.
Athletic didn't give up and, in the 81st minute, thought they had equalized with a goal from De Marcos, which was ruled out for offside. Later, in the 86th minute, the VAR intervened again to cancel a goal from Iñaki Williams due to a slight foul by Djaló, causing frustration among the Bilbao players.
Despite Athletic's final attempts, Barcelona maintained control and advanced to the Spanish Super Cup final, where they will face the winner of the second semifinal between Real Madrid and Real Mallorca.
