Paul Pogba Set for Return to Action!
Paul Pogba, the Juventus player, could return to the field sooner than expected, as early as early 2025, after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) reduced his doping ban from four years to 18 months, as reported by various media outlets on Friday. The player himself hinted at this possibility with a post on social media.
Although not yet official, Pogba's return in 2025 seems likely after 'Mail Sport' reported the reduction of his penalty, a claim supported by several prominent international and Italian media outlets.
Additionally, Pogba's Instagram post shortly after the news broke suggests that the reduction is nearing official confirmation. He shared a photo of his legs with a caption featuring an hourglass, symbolizing a countdown to his return to play.
The French international was suspended in September 2023 after testing positive for testosterone during a match against Udinese, the first of the Serie A 2023-24 season in August.
Pogba appealed the decision, but the Italian Anti-Doping Tribunal upheld the suspension, which was confirmed by the Italian Anti-Doping Prosecutor's Office in February 2024.
The midfielder had to take the case to Switzerland, to the CAS, and after months of silence during which there were even speculations about his retirement, his return to Juventus is nearly confirmed.
With a contract running until 2026, he will be under the orders of Thiago Motta in March, when the 18-month reduced suspension period is completed, provided that the CAS officially confirms the aforementioned reduction.
