Qatar Announces New Head Coach
The Qatar Football Association announced on Wednesday that Spanish coach Luis García will take charge of the national team.
Spanish coach Luis García has been appointed as the new head coach of Qatar's national team, following the dismissal of Tintín García, under whom he served as assistant. The Qatar Football Association announced the decision in a statement on Wednesday.
Luis García, who previously managed Espanyol in La Liga, has now been promoted to the head coach position, reflecting the "impact" that Tintín García had on the Qatari national team, according to the federation.
The new coach expressed his gratitude to both the federation and Tintín García for the opportunity to lead the team ahead of the upcoming Gulf Cup.
García's debut as head coach is set for December 21 in a group-stage match against the United Arab Emirates in the regional competition.
García left Espanyol after managing 26 matches, recording 10 wins, 7 draws, and 9 losses, culminating in the team's relegation to the second division. As Tintín García's assistant, he helped Qatar claim the AFC Asian Cup in February.
