The amount Pogba demands from his alleged kidnappers
Paul Pogba, who is reportedly a victim of blackmail and kidnapping by a group of his close associates, has demanded $53,000 in moral damages and requested that five of the accused, excluding his brother Mathias, return what they allegedly spent from the player’s account—an estimated $210,000.
In the absence of the French international at the hearing, his lawyer excluded Mathias from the case, stating that he "would not have benefited from the purchases" and the gifts Pogba gave to his friends, which total approximately $210,000.
On the eve of the prosecution’s announcement of potential sentences for the six accused, Mathias Pogba shifted the responsibility for the blackmail to Roushdane K., a 39-year-old man who remains in provisional detention.
The older brother of the 2018 World Cup champion recalled the viral video he posted in August 2022, in which he mentioned "shocking revelations" about Pogba and Kylian Mbappé, claiming that Pogba had allegedly cast a spell on Mbappé with the help of a sorcerer.
“Today, I can say that, indirectly, I was pressured into making that video,” Mathias said, attributing the pressure to Roushdane K.
K., who has at least seven prior criminal convictions, is accused along with Adama C. (33), Boubacar C. (35), Mamadou M. (30), and Mohamed Machikour K. (36) of charges including kidnapping, criminal conspiracy, and blackmail in several incidents that occurred during 2022.
Mathias Pogba, 34, who began his interrupted career at Celta de Vigo (Spain), is facing two charges: attempted blackmail and criminal association. However, he is not charged with the more serious crime of express kidnapping at gunpoint, which took place in March 2022.
All six are allegedly involved in a scheme to blackmail Pogba, demanding $14 million to ensure his security.
The accused, all members of the midfielder’s inner circle from his hometown of Roissy-en-Brie (on the outskirts of Paris), have claimed that they acted under pressure from a third party.
