Toni Kroos: "I Definitely Won't Watch the Semifinals"
Recently retired German footballer Toni Kroos stated on his podcast 'Simply Mal Luppen' that he "definitely" won't be watching the Euro 2024 semifinals because he doesn't believe there will be "higher quality matches" than the one between Germany and Spain in the quarterfinals.
The German midfielder admitted that after Germany's elimination by Spain, he felt "a very big void," something he hadn't experienced since 2012, when he lost with Bayern Munich in the Champions League final.
"Just like with Bayern Munich, the dream of a home title was shattered with the defeat. The bus ride from Stuttgart to our camp in Herzogenaurach felt very long. The disappointment was incredible, but you don't sit in silence for three hours; there were also pleasant conversations," Kroos said.
The former Real Madrid player noted that when they returned to the team headquarters, they talked "in groups until six in the morning about what was next, what we could do better, and how everyone felt." It was then, he added, that they realized they were "a group of good guys, not just good players."
