Young Africans Hold Al Ahly to a Draw in CAF Champions League
The reigning champions of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, Al Ahly, faced a tough challenge as they were held to a 1-1 draw in Dar es Salaam on Saturday afternoon. The Group D encounter pitted them against Tanzanian champions, Young Africans, on Match Day 2 of the group stages.
The record title holders, boasting 11 championships, had to show resilience against the Tanzanian champions, who were determined for a positive outcome after their 3-0 loss to CR Belouizdad in Algeria last weekend.
The closely contested match between two well-coached teams unfolded dramatically, with both goals occurring in the dying minutes of the game. Al Ahly's danger-man, Percy Tau, seemingly secured the winner in the 86th minute. However, in the referee's additional time, Pacome Zouzoua orchestrated a dramatic finish, securing the equalizer for the hosts. Young Africans gladly earned a point against the Egyptian giants in a hard-fought encounter.
