Young Marseille Prospect Suffers Serious Injury
Argentinian midfielder Valentín Carboni, who plays for Marseille, has suffered a cruciate ligament sprain in his left knee and will undergo surgery “soon,” the French club announced this Friday.
Carboni, 19, sustained the injury on Wednesday during a training session with the Argentina national team. After the surgery, he will “follow an adapted recovery protocol,” Marseille added in their statement.
The club did not specify how long Carboni will be sidelined, though French media have speculated that his absence could last several months, potentially ruling him out for the remainder of the season.
Marseille expressed their well-wishes for Carboni, stating, “We wish him a speedy recovery so he can return to the pitch as soon as possible.”
Carboni joined Marseille on loan this season from Inter Milan and had participated in four of the seven Ligue 1 matches played so far.
