Although the interview was recorded some time ago on the Argentine TV show LAM, aired on El Trece, Jorgelina Cardoso’s comments have resurfaced and gone viral, especially amid Manchester United’s current struggles.
“Yes, yes, we’re leaving,” she recalled Di María telling her. “There was money involved, and then people in Spain called us mercenaries… But if you work at a company and a competitor offers to pay you double, wouldn’t you leave?” Jorgelina explained, making it clear that the move was largely motivated by financial reasons.

Former PSG teammate Marcin Bulka also spoke about Di María’s difficult relationship with the English club in an interview with a Polish outlet, leaving no doubt about the lingering resentment.
“Di María hates United. In fact, when anything related to Manchester United comes on TV, he asks for the channel to be changed immediately,” Bulka said on the Polish YouTube channel Foot Truck.
