Arne Slot Could Be Headed to Saudi Arabia
After several months out of management, Arne Slot may be closing in on a return to the sidelines. The former Liverpool boss has emerged as one of the leading candidates to become Al-Ahli's next head coach.
According to talkSPORT, the Saudi Pro League club is searching for a replacement for Matthias Jaissle, who is expected to take over at Newcastle United following Eddie Howe's departure.
Club officials reportedly believe Slot has the profile needed to keep Al-Ahli competing for domestic and continental titles.
The Former Liverpool Boss Remains in High Demand
Although he left Liverpool at the end of last season, Slot remains one of the most sought-after managers on the market after guiding the Reds to the 2025 Premier League title.
Since departing Anfield, the Dutchman has been linked with several high-profile jobs. He reportedly turned down an approach from Fulham and has also been connected with AC Milan and the Netherlands national team.
The 47-year-old has so far preferred to wait for the right opportunity before returning to management.
Vítor Pereira Is Also in the Running
Slot is not Al-Ahli's only option. According to the same report, Portuguese manager Vítor Pereira is also on the club's shortlist.
Pereira brings extensive experience in Saudi football, having previously managed both Al-Shabab and Al-Ahli. He is currently available after leaving Nottingham Forest earlier this summer.
His familiarity with the Saudi Pro League could make him a strong alternative if negotiations with Slot fail to progress.
Al-Ahli Is Racing Against Time
The Saudi club is eager to finalize its managerial appointment as quickly as possible to ensure stability ahead of the new season.
Al-Ahli will open its Saudi Pro League campaign on August 13 with an away match against newly promoted Diriyah, making the coaching search one of the club's top priorities.
Whoever takes charge will inherit the responsibility of keeping Al-Ahli among the leading forces in both Saudi and Asian football.
