Hirving “Chucky” Lozano’s future could be close to being resolved after several months marked by inactivity and uncertainty at San Diego FC.

The Mexican forward is not part of his current team’s sporting plans, but a new opportunity within Major League Soccer is beginning to gain momentum and could allow him to continue his career without leaving California.

A chapter nearing its end

Lozano joined San Diego FC in January 2025 after completing his second spell with PSV Eindhoven and bringing several years in European soccer to an end.

However, his experience with the new MLS franchise did not unfold as expected. According to various reports, disciplinary issues and internal tensions led the coaching staff and club executives to stop counting on him.

A California club enters the picture?

LA Galaxy have reportedly shown interest in signing the attacker.

The move would allow Lozano to remain in California and join a club looking to strengthen its attack with an experienced player who has competed at the international level.

However, San Diego FC would only consider approving his departure through a loan without an option to buy, meaning the Mexican would remain under contract with the club.

Months without official action

Hirving Lozano’s last appearance came on November 29, 2025, when San Diego FC faced the Vancouver Whitecaps.

The Mexican even managed to score in that match, but he has not participated in an official competition since then.

His prolonged absence also affected his chances with the Mexican national team and was one of the factors that kept him out of the squad for the 2026 World Cup.
