Marcelo Joins the Conversation About the GOAT of Football and Gave His Opinion About Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo
The former Real Madrid and Fluminense player spoke on Romário's YouTube channel about the rivalry between Messi and Ronaldo, and defined who was the worst rival
The trajectory and numbers of the left-back
Marcelo Vieira da Silva Júnior, better known as Marcelo, was an iconic player in Brazilian and Spanish football, being one of the most important pieces of Real Madrid that won everything in the 2010s. A left-back who throughout his career played 663 matches and scored 52 goals with 109 assists, reaching a value of over 80 million dollars at the peak of his career, and sharing the team with Cristiano Ronaldo for many years.
What did Marcelo say?
On this occasion, the defender spoke about the rivalry between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, from his perspective regarding which of the two was more difficult to face. He shared his opinion on Romário's YouTube channel, the legendary Brazilian national team player who brought this question to the table.
Romário's question was as follows: "You faced Cristiano and Messi, but who was the toughest?" to which Marcelo replied without any doubt, "Messi... How formidable Messi was! I still look for him, damn it! He is truly formidable, Messi is very tough," declared Marcelo.
The reasons Marcelo gave for his opinion
Later, he began to elaborate on why he had given that answer about who was the most difficult opponent to face. "He understands all positions on the field very well; he knows that when a player passes the ball to him from behind, he already knows where to place it, where to send it out, etc. I found it truly formidable," added the former Real Madrid player.
Another opinion has been added to the debate that has existed since the two figures emerged on the world football stage: who is the better player of the two. Marcelo did not answer that question but made it clear that Messi is the most difficult player to defend from his experience
