Alphonso Davies is Close to Renewing with Bayern Munich, Rejecting Real Madrid
Alphonso Davies’ future seems to be increasingly tied to Bayern Munich. According to reports from Germany, the Canadian left-back is close to renewing his contract with the Bavarian club, putting an end to rumors linking him to a potential move to Real Madrid. A key meeting between Bayern’s executives and the player’s agent, Nick Huoseh, is scheduled for next week, and it's expected to be the moment where an agreement is finalized that would keep Davies at Allianz Arena until 2028.
Bayern’s Commitment to Their Star
Bayern Munich has made it clear they want to secure Davies' future by offering him a contract that would make him one of the highest-paid players at the club. Christoph Freund, Bayern's sporting director, said: "Alphonso is not just a great player but also an ambassador for our sports project and future vision. We’re doing everything we can to make sure he continues being a key part of our team for many more years. His commitment to the club and his exceptional talent make him an irreplaceable asset."
Bayern’s coach, Vincent Kompany, also highlighted Davies' importance to his tactical setup. "What Alphonso brings to the game can’t be underestimated. He’s a unique mix of speed, technique, and game vision. I firmly believe his best version is still to come. If he stays with us, I’m sure he’ll keep making a difference both in defense and attack," said Kompany.
Impact on Bayern’s and Real Madrid’s Plans
Davies' renewal is a major blow to Real Madrid's plans, as they had him as one of their main targets to strengthen their left-back position. However, the Madrid club is not willing to engage in a bidding war for the player, and according to close sources, Carlo Ancelotti already has other alternatives in mind to cover that role, prioritizing options that fit both the tactical needs and financial limits of the club.
With Davies' renewal nearly secured, Bayern Munich ensures the continued presence of one of their standout players. Freund concluded: "Alphonso's story at Bayern is still in its first chapter. We’re confident he can reach new heights here and become a club legend."
